The North Channel, (Irish Channel) between the North of Ireland and the Mull of Galloway is 21.6 n. miles (40km.). Some of the well know channel swimmers have visited Irelands shores, departed and did not make it to Scotland. There were lots of different reasons for this. We would not consider acting as channel pilots to guide a long distance swimmer, unless they have completed the English Channel successfully . In recent years the success rate has risen. We guide and act as safety boat to other individuals and groups which have rowed, paddle boarded, kayaked and even walked!! across the Channel. Below are some of these persons
